Grey River - Mawhera

Where the Grey River meets the Tasman Sea, a busy tapestry emerges. The river is full of life, attracting both birds and fishermen. Savage waves crash against the breakwater as winter storms thrash the exposed coastline, stirring up sediment. The resulting tea-colored waves transition back to blue in summer.

New Zealand Surfers

Along the rocky and exposed West Coast of New Zealand are a few surf spots beloved by the locals, including the Cobden breakwater at the mouth of the Grey River. Despite the cold water, a dedicated group of surfers regularly ride the waves.

Nursing Strike
